A substantial cushion-cut blue sapphire of a vivid, medium-deep cornflower to royal blue, four-prong set in platinum with a matched pair of half-moon diamonds at the shoulders. The sapphire displays strong, even color saturation with good transparency and the lively mixed-cut faceting pattern characteristic of fine cushion-cut corundum. The interior shank stamp visible in the photographs reads "PLAT" and "47th and 5th". The half-moon diamonds are well-cut and bright, their flat edges sitting flush against the sapphire girdle on each side, and the gallery beneath the head is an elaborately pierced and scrolled platinum framework of exceptional quality. The reverse shows a fully open, filigree-work basket allowing excellent light access to the sapphire pavilion. The sapphire is eye clean, medium saturation, and approximately 6 carats.
