A finely modeled crocodile brooch by Piero Milano, executed in 18k yellow gold with a naturalistic, fully sculpted body. The textured scalework is chased across the back, flanks, and clawed feet, while a line of pavé-set round brilliant diamonds runs the length of the dorsal ridge from the crown of the head down the curling, raised tail, set in white gold to lift the stones against the warm yellow body. The hinged jaw opens to reveal carved gold teeth, and the eye is accented with a small cabochon-cut ruby. The piece reads with real movement, the arched tail and planted limbs giving it a poised, lifelike stance.
The reverse is finished with open scrollwork galleries that lighten the casting and frame the rectangular maker's plaque engraved "Milano Piero". The metal is stamped 750 for 18k gold and numbered 621 AL alongside the Piero Milano signature, confirming attribution. The diamond pavé is bright and evenly matched, and the pin stems and catches are intact and functional.
