A highly animated and fully three-dimensional figural frog pendant worked in 18-karat yellow gold, stamped 18K with maker's initials KV and the year 1963, with a heavily textured granular surface finish throughout the body, limbs, and webbed feet. The torso is pavé-set with approximately twenty-five round brilliant-cut diamonds in bezel settings across the chest and abdomen, and both eyes are set with round emerald cabochons of vivid medium green. The figure is posed mid-leap with one foreleg raised, holding a small separately fabricated and fully articulated gold scuba flipper charm suspended from a jump ring. The stamping of a calendar year alongside maker's initials is consistent with Continental European goldsmithing practice of the 20th century. This piece catches the light amazingly between its crunchy gold texture around its body and the cluster of round brilliant diamonds across its body, shining and displaying fire through the diamonds. The texture tampers off at the feet, showing intension to try and mimick a frog in real life, making its bumpy skin beautiful through goldsmithing.
