Vintage Andrew Clunn Rock Crystal Quartz Cabochon Earrings w/Diamonds 18K Gold

A bold pair of round button earrings by Andrew Clunn, crafted in 18k yellow gold. Each is centered on a large domed quartz cabochon, smooth and softly translucent, held in an openwork gallery of polished gold bars that lets light pass behind the stone. The cabochon is framed by a wide hammered-gold border bezel-set with round brilliant-cut diamonds spaced evenly around the rim, the bright diamonds and textured gold setting off the clean, glassy quartz at the center. On the reverse they are fitted with clip backs.

These are truly statement pieces, elevating quartz into the same class as diamonds. The gold work is amazing, 3 solid lines wrapping around the border of the piece, layered occassionally with hand hammered gold.
