The ring is bezel set with a large sugarloaf cut blue topaz, a four sided cabochon rising to a pyramid point, held in a wide mount. The shoulders taper broadly from the bezel to the shank. Beneath the stone the gallery is pierced in an open quatrefoil pattern, visible from the profile and through the shank, a construction that lightens the mount and lets light reach the pavilion of the stone. The topaz reads clean and evenly colored, with good life through the pyramid facets and no visible chips to the girdle. It is a bold, sculptural, ring built for dramatic effect, highlighting a massive sky blue topaz. The open work is astounding and allows the stone to shine.
