The necklace is built from a long run of oval cable links in polished 18k gold, alternating at intervals with twisted, rope-textured "gaspipe" links that give the chain a woven, tactile rhythm rather than a flat, uniform look. Set into the chain at irregular intervals are faceted gemstone stations in a mix of cuts and colors, a mix of smoky, pink, and rock crystal quartz in step cut ovals, circles, or rectangles. The clasp is a substantial textured lobster claw, beaded almost as if it was pave set diamonds. Stamped 18k, an engraved heart, and Judith Ripka.
There are no visible solder repairs, and each quartz station sits flush and secure in its rope bezel with no chips to the facet edges. Worn doubled, as shown, the necklace sits as a substantial layered collar, with the smoky, pink, and rock crystal stations falling unevenly across the chest rather than lining up, worn as a single long strand it drapes well past the collarbone. It is an amazing, dense piece, which utilizes the alternating textures of gold amazingly. The quartz further breaks up the piece while adding a subtle pop of color that can truly go well with anything.
